On Dec 5th in the Loewe Auditiorium the NYU Orchestra Program will present a special event, AN EVENING WITH THE JACOBSEN BROTHERS AND FRIENDS Violinist Colin Jacobsen and cellist Eric Jacobsen are members of Yo Yo Ma's Silk Road Project, founders of the string orchestra "The Knights," the string quartet "The Brooklyn Riders" and soloists appearing across the US, in Europe and Asia.

The program will reflect multi -cultural influences and will consist of the first movement of Oswaldo Golijov's tango inflected "Last Round," "Sounds of Syria" with guest clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and faculty member John Hadfield, "The Truth Touches Everything" by jazz faculty member Rich Shemaria, Angel Lam's 'Her Thousand Years Dance' for Shakuhachi, Cello, Percussion, and Strings with Kojiro Umezaki, and the recently unearthed Torelli Christmas Concerto.

Safari Trio is John’s latest venture into musical textures and melodies from around the world, from Indian Raga, Arabic Maqam, Balkan dances and African rhythms. Performing on an assortment of flutes, saxes and clarinets, John blends an assortment of styles and cultures with his own compositions. He is joined in the trio with percussionist John Hadfield and guitarist Brad Shepik.

Singer-songwriter B.Skalsky formed Dead Heart Bloom in 2005 garnering a sturdy fan base and receiving comparisons to the "eclectic eccentricity of Beck." Norwegian band Kakkmaddafakka's music is a mix of trash-meets-60s, Pop, Punk and even Ska.
